Illinois Cup

This annual statewide tournament for teams in the under 8 - 12 age groups offers youth soccer players an opportunity to experience a consistent and high quality statewide tournament in a fun, family-like atmosphere. It fosters stimulation and excitement about soccer in an effort to increase the players’ interest and love for the game.

Under-8 thru Under-10 Details
For 2016, the U8-U10 Illinois Cup will be run in 3 Division per age group:

  • Gold: Open to ANY team,but all teams that play in the top (ie A, B or AB, Platinum, etc) Divisions of competitive leagues are REQUIRED to play in this division.
  • Silver: Open to any team that plays in lower divisions of competitive leagues, C and below. Players that play on A or B Division teams are not permitted to be rostered on teams playing in this division.
  • Recreational Division: Teams comprised of players from an Illinois Youth Soccer member recreational league ONLY. Recreational programs can create "all-star" teams to represent them.

U8-U10 Info

  • Registration Fee: $185 registration
  • Referee Fee: $18 per game
  • Format: 7 v7
  • Points based round-robin group play
  • Teams play a minimum of 3 games
  • Group winners advance to bonus games (Semifinals & Finals)

Roster size: 14 players for U8-U9, 16 players for U10. Teams may ONLY USE PLAYERS FROM WITHIN THEIR CLUB.  No players allowed from outside club can be rostered. Players can only be registered on 1 roster.

Under-11 & Under-12 Details

For the Under-11 and Under-12 Divisions teams play single elimination games until reaching the round of 16 teams. Teams will then compete in groups of four over May 7-8 in Naperville. Group winners return June 4 or 5 for semifinals and finals.

Eligible Teams
In order to participate in the Illinois Cup each team must:

  • Be a member of the Illinois Youth Soccer Assocation
  • Be currently registered with an IYSA affiliated league; Illinois Women's Soccer League (IWSL), Young Sportsmen's Soccer League (YSSL), Central Illinois Youth Soccer League (CIYSL), Southern Illinois Soccer League (SISL) or ILLOWA; & provide documentation therefore to the IYSA
  • Provide an Illinois Youth Soccer member league roster
  • All players & coaches must be registered with the IYSA
  • All players and coaches must have and use IYSA member league / US Youth Soccer passes

Tournament Format

Under-8 thru Under-10

  • 7 v7
  • Points based round-robin group play
  • Teams play a minimum of 3 games
  • Group winners advance to bonus games (Semifinals & Finals)

Roster size: 14 players for U8-U9, 16 players for U10. Teams can have up to 7 players from within their club. No players allowed from outside club. Players can only be registered on 1 roster.

Under-11 & Under-12

  • 9v9
  • Singles elimination Home Team Host until the Round of 16
  • Final 16 teams play in points based round-robin group play
  • Group winners advance to bonus games (Semifinals & Finals)

Scoring
Group playing scoring:

  • Win: 3 points
  • Tie: 1 points
  • Loss: 0 points 

If group play ends in a tie, the following criteria will determine tie-breakers.  Tie-breakers will be determined from games played WITHIN GROUPS ONLY. Crossover, byes and forfeit games will not be included in calculations.

Tie-Breakers:

  • 1st: Head-to-head
  • 2nd: Most Wins
  • 3rd: Goal Differential (4 goal max per game)
  • 4th: Goals Allowed
  • 5th: Penalty Kicks
