CompetitiveA program for players with advanced skills and greater ambition. These players may have their sights set on a college soccer scholarship or even playing for the US National or Olympic teams. The Illinois Youth Soccer competitive program consists of the major leagues across the State of Illinois.These teams usually consist of players from an area that tryout to compete on that team. A competitive team is also called a club team, travel team, select team, or even a premier team. These teams are formed for the purpose of competing against teams from the region or across the nation. All Illinois Youth Soccer-affiliated competitive teams Under-13 to Under-19 are eligible to enter in the statewide Illinois State Cup and have a chance to go on to the US Youth Soccer Regional and National Championships. Those teams which are Under-8 to Under-12 are eligible to enter in the Illinois Cup. Effective August 1, 2011 the Northern Illinois Soccer League (NISL) will no longer be an affiliated competitive league with the Illinois Youth Soccer Association.
