Pre-ODP 2016 & 2017

Pre-ODP 2016 & 2017

Illinois Pre-ODP serves as an introduction to the broader Illinois ODP. The program is for serious soccer players who are passionate and eager to elevate their game. This program offers an opportunity to train under the guidance of highly certified and experienced coaches. Our goal is to create a dynamic environment where young athletes can thrive, enhance their skills, and face new challenges that foster both personal and athletic growth. Additionally, Pre-ODP is a neutral training program, welcoming players from all leagues, clubs and competition platforms.

2025-2026 Season

Registration for 2025-2026 season will open September 1, 2025. This winter each Pre-ODP age group will train with their proper age group and no longer combined. There will be multiple sessions offered and players could sign up for one or all of the sessions. Each session will consist of 4 training dates and a 5th date of games. If you have any questions, please email Rico at odp@illinoisyouthsoccer.org

Eligibility

Illinois Pre-ODP is open to all soccer players in Illinois born in 2016 & 2017. Pre-ODP provides a platform for players to develop their skills and train at a high level. There are no State Team selections in Pre-ODP. Additionally, Pre-ODP is a neutral training program, welcoming players from all leagues, clubs and competition platforms.

ODP & Club Participation

According to the U.S. Soccer Bylaws (updated May 2025), an Organization Member (such as a club or state association) cannot block or penalize a player’s participation in ODP based on their club affiliation.

Bylaw 603 | Interplay:

• Section 1: An Organization Member cannot require that all players of another Organization Member register with them just to allow some to participate. Only players who choose to participate must register, but they must follow the normal registration rules.

• Section 2: An Organization Member (other than a professional league) “shall not discriminate against the participation of players, teams, coaches or clubs on the basis of that player, coach, team, or club’s membership in, or affiliation with, another Organization Member.”

That means a club cannot tell a player they cannot do ODP if they are already playing with a club. Denying ODP participation on that basis would be considered discrimination under the bylaws.

U.S. Soccer’s bylaws protect players’ right to participate in both club and ODP. A club cannot impose restrictions preventing dual participation.

Registration

There will be two opportunities to join Pre-ODP, Session 1 and/or Session 2. Each session includes 4 training dates, with each training being 1.5 hours long and participation in a 5th date which will be the Pre-ODP Festival. The cost is $375/session, players can sign up for one or both sessions. There will only be 50 spots available for each session. Registration closes October 28 or until full.
