The 12U Midwest Conference Qualifiers enters its final stages, as there are only a handful of games left in both the girls and boys divisions. Your position in the standings can not only get you a league championship, but it also determines your team’s placement into the US Youth Soccer Midwest Conference in the Fall 2024 13U age group. The year-long competition has every team playing a total of 22 games as they were to play every team twice, between Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.

Not a lot has changed at the top as FC United sit at the summit in dominating fashion with only 15 games played and seven games left at 42 points. Windy City Rampage, Elmhurst City, GLSA and Wheaton United who all sit between 2nd and 5th respectively, are separated by eight points and all have either four or five games left to play. Second place Rampage has 39 points while Wheaton United have 31. Rounding out the league is Metro Alliance, Galaxy SC, Wilmette Wings, Rockford Raptors, Chicago Inter, NWI Lions and OPRF who sit 6th through 12th respectively.
FC United sit pretty on top as they have three games played less than Rampage and lead by three points. It has not been easy to see a ball hit the back of the net against them; they only have six goals scored on! They do however still have to visit Elmhurst City and play Wheaton United twice. They did manage to beat Elmhurst City by the minimum, 1-0 and the Wheaton United game will be a double count. There is no opposition to take it easy on as they will close out the season to Wilmette Wings and NWI Lions. Wilmette Wings tied against GLSA, Windy City Rampage and Wheaton United who all sit in the top half. FC United will have a challenging road ahead but one they surely will be ready for.
Windy City Rampage, Elmhurst City, GLSA and Wheaton United will be an interesting group of teams to keep an eye on as they close out the season. Any slippage from FC United and any of the aforementioned, can challenge for the title. Rampage is the only team thus far to beat FC United and throughout the season, have only one game where they had two or more goals scored on. Games against each other as the season commences are going to be vital; they will host GLSA and Elmhurst City in June. Elmhurst City sit 3rd with 36 points, three off of Rampage and with a game in hand. The Elmhurst side has very challenging games to close, they have five games and amongst those games are FC United, Windy City Rampage and GLSA. GLSA are breathing down their neck as they are in 4th place with 33 points in the same number of games. GLSA are in fourth also, three points behind the team above. They will play all the three teams in the group mentioned here. Nine points against these teams could see them fly up the table quickly. Wheaton United sit only two points behind GLSA however, they played one more game. They have four games left to play and two will come against first place, FC United. An exhilarating end to this division is an understatement and who will go where in the Fall US Youth Midwest Conference is up in the air.

Chicago Fire has been a force to be reckoned with, they are undefeated after 15 games and atop the standings with 45 points. Chicago Magic PSG are in 2nd with 38 points and have a game in hand and two games in hand off third place Ponys. Ponys are in 3rd due to goal differential as they are equal on points to Magic however, they do have two more games played. Glen Ellyn Lakers have one more game played, with 17 however, they are only two points behind Ponys. Eight points separate Deportivo Juniors, Chicago Empire, JaHbat, FC-1 and Illinois Elite from 33 points to 25 points. Pineda FA rounds out the top ten and following them respectively are GLSA, Chicago Inter, NWI Lions, FCX, Harvard FC, Rockford Raptors, Central Illinois United, Kankakee County SA and AAC Eagles.
Chicago Fire Youth SC’s numbers speak for themselves. They have an amazing 139 goals scored in their 15 games and have only seven scored on. In the four games left to play however, they will host both Chicago Magic and Glen Ellyn Lakers who will be far from easy confrontations. Chicago Magic has even less goals scored on with five. No other team besides the top two in the standings have less than ten. They play May 30th, at 7pm in Clark Park and this might just be the game of the season. Ponys have an astronomical 98 goals in their 16 games played. While Magic joins Fire in ridiculously good defensive numbers, Ponys can say they have their ridiculous number of goals. Ponys host Magic May 19th, at 7pm at Antonio Carbajal fields in what will be one of the most decisive games. Glen Ellyn Lakers, who sits in 4th with 35 points, has 2 games left in their season. They are mathematically unable to catch up to Chicago Fire however, that is not the case against the other two adversaries ahead of them. They tied Magic 0-0 and will visit Chicago Fire to look for the upset there.
Deportivo Juniors, Chicago Empire, JaHbat, FC-1 and United Elite are separated by only eight points, as previously mentioned, and there is still a lot to play for. Deportivo Juniors are in 5th with 33 points in 15 games and close out the season to JaHbat, Ponys, FCX and Chicago Empire. A difficult ending but they have the third most goals scored with 79 and have scored more than nine goals on five occasions. Chicago Empire is one point behind with a game in hand, they still have to face Chicago Magic and Deportivo Juniors, two teams above them in the standings and a difficult United Elite team. They will be ready for the challenge. JaHbat has lost only once thus far. They have 28 points, with 13 games played. JaHbat tied Ponys, Magic and Empire on their way. They will be playing Deportivo Juniors and United Elite as they conclude the season. FC-1 and United Elite sit in 8th and 9th place respectively and have the same record. 8 wins 7 losses and a draw with 25 points. FC-1 will finish the season against Pineda FA, Chicago Inter and Rockford Raptors. United Elite will have a difficult last three games, JaHbat, Chicago Inter and Chicago Empire but will be eager to close out on a positive.
Chicago Inter is an interesting team to keep an eye on as they have only played nine games and will play their remaining 10 in a month. They sit 13th with said nine games played and have 17 points. They have five wins, two draw and two losses. With winning a majority of their last games, Inter can see themselves towards the top of standings.
