Coaching Course: US Soccer B License

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the U.S. Soccer B Course, all applicants must meet ALL of the following prerequisites:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Have held a U.S. Soccer C License for at least 12 months or meet the waiver requirements
  • Have 3 or more years of coaching experience (any level)
  • Currently coaching a team training at least three (3) times a week
  • Currently working in an appropriate soccer environment for the course content -OR- have the opportunity to work with a team of the appropriate level for the course content to complete the assignments (internship, etc.)

Course Experience

120+ hours (virtual + in-person meetings)

Coaches who register for this course can expect weekly learning opportunities featuring a mixture of independent learning using online modules, live virtual meetings, and two (2) 4-day in-person meetings led by licensed U.S. Soccer Educators.

Coaches will be asked to participate in discussions, so each person should have access to the internet and a laptop/device with web-camera/live video capabilities.

The virtual meetings will take place on agreed-upon days and times. Coaches may be asked to participate in the in-person field component as coaches or players, so please come prepared to learn actively.

Course Duration

Six (6) Months (Including summative assessment) with eight (8) in-person days across two (2) separate in-person meetings.

Course Assessment

Formative Assessment (course assignments during the course) in

  • Leadership and Managing the Performance Environment
  • Leading the player within the team
  • Coaching Games
  • Coaching Training Sessions

Summative Assessment (final projects at the end of the course) in

  • Coaching Games
  • Team Performance Analysis Report
  • Coaching Training Sessions
  • Designing three (3) training session plans (within one week)
  • Coaching one (1) training session (video)

Course Outcome

Student coaches will receive the U.S. Soccer B Diploma and a 3-year License upon successful completion of course assessment.

Course Policies

  • Coaches that register for this course are expected to attend all course meetings and complete all assignments by due dates to be eligible to receive the license
  • Coaches must have access to a team (U13+) in a performance environment for the duration of the course

Schedule

The final virtual meeting dates and times will be announced at least two (2) weeks before the course starts. Coaches must allot two to three hours weekly for virtual course meetings.

Meeting 2:

Date: NOV 4th – NOV 7th (4) DAY MEETING

Illinois Youth Soccer B-License Course Refund Policy

  • The registration fee must be paid in full at the time of registration which closes on JULY 2nd 2024.
  • Cancellations more than 14 days before the start of the course may be refunded in full. Cancellations made within 14 days of the beginning of the course will be refunded in full, minus a $200 processing fee.
  • Student coaches who withdraw for documented medical reasons will get a full refund.
  • Once the B-License Course has begun and through week 1, we will continue to offer a transfer to a future Illinois Youth Soccer Association B-License course in the same year.
  • After week 1 of the B-License course – No refunds or transfers are available.
  • When registering for this course, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to the course policies regarding course assignments, a minimum number of participants, registration fees, and refunds.
  • A medical or compassionate withdrawal request may be made in extraordinary cases in which severe illness or injury (medical) or another significant personal situation (compassionate) prevents a student from continuing their classes, and incomplete or other arrangements with the educators are impossible. ILLINOIS YOUTH SOCCER will review these cases on an individual basis.
  • Any progress a student coach achieves in a course is considered lost at withdrawal time. So long as they are eligible to transfer/register for a future course, they must start from the beginning and complete the entire course process to be considered for issuance of a status.
  • ILLINOIS YOUTH SOCCER does not reimburse for travel-related expenses.
