The Illinois Olympic Development Program or ODP is the first step in the identification process for the National and Olympic Teams. The Illinois Youth Soccer Association conducts the program for US Soccer under the jurisdiction of the US Olympic Committee. The purpose of this prestigious program is to identify players on the basis of open tryouts and develop them to represent their state, region, and the United States in soccer competition.

State Teams

In the ODP process, players are selected for the Illinois State Team. The Illinois State Team program provides players with opportunity to advance to regional and national levels of ODP. The program serves as a pathway for players to showcase their talents to college recruiters and scouts, with many State Team alumni going on to play at the collegiate level.

Each State Association holds ODP tryouts on an annual basis to identify top talent. State Team players who show promise and dedication are then selected to represent the region on the Midwest Regional Team. These players have the opportunity to compete with other regions and showcase their skills in hopes of being chosen for the ODP National Select Team.
